Highlights:

• Three days of Pinehurst golf (#6, #1, #3, the Cradle) with some of my favorite people
• Three nights of kid free dinners out, one afternoon of kid-present lunch
• Conveniently located, scenic fall marathon that happens to be taking place the same weekend we’re in town

Low-lights:

• Shannon’s cold weather Pinehurst jinx continues
• Hills, age and lack of training

Thanks:

• To Bill and Marge for once again hosting us in Pinehurst, providing top notch golf and free babysitting services
• To Shannon for once again participating in a golf and running centric long weekend
• To John, Peg and the Rockoffs for once again taking care of our dog

Low-lights:

• NJ Shore marathon cancelled
• Newton family withdrew due to location change
• Cousin Erin withdrew due to injury

Highlights:

• So many National Parks (Saguaro, Grand Canyon, Petrified Forest, Zion, Bryce Canyon and Capitol Reef)
• So many cool non-National Park parks (Slide Rock, Monument Valley, Meteor Crater, Antelope Canyon, Lake Powell, Horseshoe Bend)
• Pretty scenic marathon course, managed the altitude without issue

Low-lights:

• Lake Powell hike meltdown
• Luke, not a fan of the OK Corral reenactment
• Chickened out on the final stretch of Angel’s Landing

Thanks:

• To John and Peg for once again providing Eli with a lake vacation
• To Shannon and the boys for once again allowing me to drive them all over the country for hiking and running and stuff

Highlights:

• Road trip! So many random roadside attractions plus five state capitols (Richmond, Raleigh, Columbia, Atlanta, Montgomery) and many, many breweries
• Four National Parks (Shenandoah, Congaree, Great Smoky Mountains, New River Gorge)
• Events / attractions starting to open up (Hershey, Luray Caverns, US Rocket Center, Lumberjack Feud, Spy Museum)

Low-lights:

• Darlington Raceway Stock Car Museum closed due to COVID
• Big Fish / Spectre island closed due to flooding
• Failed to acquire growler from a Georgia brewery

Thanks:

• To Shannon for letting me steal our children for an entire week
• To Marge and Bill for solid NC hotel accommodations
• To Blair and William as well as Kate Finley for providing key pit stops along our way
