• Low quality golfer
• Continue to be old and slow
• About a 1 mile walk from the finish line to the buses

Golden Gate Headlands Marathon

• Multiple pop-culture photo ops (Top Gun, 90210, Back to the Future)
• Various domestic and wild animal sightings (cats, whales, dolphins, ostriches, otters)
• So many great places to force my family to walk arround (Carlsbad Flower Fields, Universal Studios, Hollywood Hills, Hermosa Beach, Solvang, Pismo Beach, Pinnacles National Park, Big Sur, Carmel, Monterey, Marin Headlands)

Low-lights:

• Various traffic jams
• Found out they are tearing down the 90210 beach house this summer
• So old and slow

• First Ragnar in over 5 years

• Re-united with fellow Mile Square Running Club member, Paul Oldakowski for our first run together in about 10 years.

Low-lights:

• Leg 8 questionably marked, almost lost our runner as their 10 mile leg turned into a 13.5 mile leg

• To Paul for the invite.  Why, yes, I would like to fly to Louisville to run a bunch of miles and drink a bunch of bourbon.

Fox Cities Marathon

Highlights:

• Got to see 2 of 4 members of REM (Peter Buck and Mike Mills) sing about baseball
• Got to play Whistling Straits, which might be my all time favorite golf course
• Rain held off on race day so we had ideal weather for slowly running around Wisconsin

Low-lights:

• The quality of the Chicago White Sox baseball and food
• Still not very good at golf
• Still not getting any faster at marathons

• To Shannon for letting me tack a few extra days onto a work trip so I could play golf and run a marathon
• To Brian for tacking on a few extra days to his work trip so I didn’t have to play terrible golf alone

Hawaii Kai Ultra Run XTreme

Highlights:

• Played some fantastic golf courses (Torrey Pines North and South, Royal Hawaiian, Kapalua Bay and Plantation) with some pretty fantastic people.
• So much time for activities (Hiking, hiking, hiking, National Park hiking, ziplining, cliff diving, sailing, floating, boat jumping)
• These “cousins” hardly need any supervision these days

Low-lights:

• Hot, humid and hilly run coupled with a 45 year old body…4:51 finish.
• Experienced our first tsunami warning
• Still don’t totally understand the facination with Raining Cane’s Chicken

Teton Dam Marathon

Highlights:

• Sunrise and sunset photo hikes in Grand Teton National Park
• Post work, afternoon hikes in Yellowstone National Park (West Thumb Geyser Basin, Grand Prismatic, Fairy Falls) and Grand Teton National Park (Taggart / Bradley Lake, Leigh / String Lake and Cascade Canyon) Saw moose, buffalo, elk and marmot.  Was not mauled by the one bear I came across.
• Managed the high altitude course without issue, was rewarded with Star Wars themed chocolate milk at the finish line and awarded a hat and some socks as the second fastest old man.

Low-lights:

• Not many.  Some trails were closed, some people hike slowly and four wide across the trail.
