- So many National Parks (Cuyahoga Valley, Indiana Dunes, Badlands, Canyonlands, Arches, Black Canyon of the Gunnison, Great Sand Dunes, Shenandoah) and two National Monuments (Devils Tower, Dinosaur)
- So many state capitol buildings (Madison, Pierre, Cheyenne, Lincoln, Des Moines, Springfield, Indianapolis, Frankfort, Charleston)
- So many roadside attractions (Gobbler’s Knob, Shawshank Prison Sites, Groundhog Day Inn and Town, Geographic Center of the Nation, American Gothic House, Lincoln Tomb and House, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Louisville Slugger Factory, Churchill Downs)
Low-lights:
- No Shannon, no children
- * Two wrong turns after mile 25, a total of 28 miles run
- Global pandemic
